Position Overview:
Client is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-orientedLegal Assistantto join their busy Family Law Practice in Boston. The ideal candidate is polished, professional, and highly organized, with strong writing and interpersonal skills.
This role requires the ability to work independently or collaboratively, manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines, and consistently deliver exceptional service to clients and attorneys.
Compensation:
Our client offers a competitive compensation package ranging from$65,000 to $75,000,commensurate with your experience, education, certifications, and skill set. This reflects a strong commitment to attracting top-tier talent for this pivotal role.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support:
Provide secretarial and administrative support to the head of the Family Law department
Maintain client files, contacts, and calendars in adherence to firm procedures
Edit, proofread, transcribe, and finalize letters, pleadings, and other legal documents
Document Management:
Prepare, revise, and file pleadings and other legal documents with courts, including e-filing and manual filing processes
Originate correspondence, route incoming mail, and manage document assembly and distribution
Maintain an organized filing system for a paper-intensive practice
Client Relations:
Serve as a professional point of contact for clients and visitors, providing information and relaying messages as appropriate
Ensure a friendly and professional experience for all client interactions
Billing and Technology:
Edit, process, and post bills for client services
Use advanced word processing, spreadsheets, and practice support systems such as Surepoint, NetDocuments, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Miscellaneous Duties:
Schedule and manage deadlines, meetings, and due dates
Screen and route telephone calls
Occasionally assist with office tasks such as preparing lunch or coffee setups for mediations
Provide backup assistance within the department as needed
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Familiarity with Surepoint, NetDocuments, and other legal practice software is a plus
Experience: Previous experience in a legal environment is preferred
Other Requirements:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Flexibility to work overtime when needed
