Busy and growing elder law firm seeks a legal assistant who is a highly motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills to join our team. We are a mostly virtual firm looking for a responsible and dedicated team member to provide support to attorneys in estate planning, special needs, trust administration and long-term care planning matters. This is a key role supporting 1-2 attorneys. Must be willing and able to work independently both from home and on-site. It is likely that the position will require one to two days per week on site at our office in St. Louis Park. In the first six months of employment we may require more days on-site for training and supervision purposes. Essential qualifications:

· Prepare draft documents and correspondence.

· Maintain client files and documents in an orderly and secure manner.

· Communicate with clients and other professionals on a daily basis regarding follow-ups, scheduling, case updates, and responding to general questions.

· Maintain documentation and enters data into client files.

· Track billable time and enter it into the firm case management system.

· Support supervising attorney with administrative tasks as needed during business hours.

· Meet with clients to review and sign simple documents.

· High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word required.

· Associate’s degree or equivalent strongly preferred.

Desired qualifications and skills include:

· Familiarity with office norms and procedures.

· Attention to detail, including excellent proofreading skills.

· Ability to deal professionally and communicate clearly and concisely internally and with clients.

· Ability to consistently track time spent on client matters, and document files to ensure notes and workflows stay current.

· Familiarity with Teams and Excel preferred.

· Proficiency with basic office equipment including laptops, scanners, printers, and copiers.

· Familiarity with Odyssey e-filing system preferred but will train the right candidate.

· Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work priorities, work-flow and work assignments.

· Ability to manage attorney calendars and deadlines accurately and consistently.

· Law office experience preferred but not required. At least 3 years’ work history in any customer-facing position (for example, front-of-house food service, caregiving, sales, or office administration) strongly preferred.

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
