Job Summary:
The Trial Paralegal will assist attorneys by providing administrative and research support services, including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact-checking; and trial preparation. The ideal applicant has considerable trial experience with personal injury or medical negligence cases. Duties/Responsibilities:
Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
Assists in drafting legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, briefs, affidavits, discovery, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items.
Assists attorneys in all phases of litigation, including trial preparation and support and attending trials and hearings.
Organizes and maintains electronic files within the firm’s case management software.
Coordinates with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel for scheduling and document exchange.
Performs other related tasks, errands, and duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to travel often and extensively.
Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Keynote, and case management software.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred
15+ years of paralegal experience required
Trial experience as lead paralegal is mandatory
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $160,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year
