A law firm in Fort Lauderdale is looking to add a Legal Assistant to their team. The right candidate must be bilingual in English and Spanish and have experience with workers compensation claims. Must be able to work in office 5 days a week in Fort Lauderdale.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain a caseload of 120+ workers’ compensation files.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including calendar management, scheduling appointments, and tracking deadlines.
- Utilize legal case management and law firm management software to organize and monitor case activity.
- Request and obtain medical records and other documentation related to claim development and discovery.
- Prepare settlement documentation and assist with case resolution processes.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Maintain positive, professional, and responsive communication with clients throughout the life of a claim.
- Coordinate multiple assignments simultaneously while ensuring deadlines are met.
- Prioritize daily workload effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of legal assistant experience in a claimant-side workers’ compensation practice.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
- Strong client service and communication skills.
- Experience working with legal case management and/or law firm management software.
- Proven ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet critical deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
