The Boards and Commissions Division oversees administration of 28 professional and occupational licensing boards and commissions and approximately 100,000 individual licenses ranging from dentists and social workers to real estate brokers and cosmetologists. This position is located within the Division’s Health Licensing Bureau, based out of the Department’s Santa Fe office.
Each board and commission has its own set of rules and its own licensing requirements. The Governor of New Mexico appoints members to boards and commissions who work closely with the Superintendent of the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department to protect consumer rights while promoting good business practices and economic growth.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

Why does the job exist?
The Board Administrator serves in a critical role to assist boards and commissions in executing their administrative duties and to ensure that constituents – which includes current licensees, applicants, and other members of the public – are informed as to requirements for initial licensure, renewal, and accountability and compliance actions related to professions regulated by the Division.
How does it get done?
The position may serve as the primary staff contact for one or more health licensing boards administratively attached to the Division, and act as a trusted advisor to professional and public members appointed by the Governor to the board, facilitating regular public meetings, rule hearings, and ensuring that public business of the board is tracked and executed timely. The position will ensure that licensing activity of the board (initial issuance and renewals) are managed appropriately and that regulations are updated and properly executed. The Board Administrator and various staff members will work with at least two licensing boards, ranging from the New Mexico Massage Therapy Board, Nutrition and Dietetics Board, Board of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and the Chiropractic Examiners Board. This position will also work closely with the Team Manager to monitor the Team’s licensing process, audit licensing activity, and assist in training other staff regarding licensing requirements and procedures.
The Board Administrator will work closely with management and other areas of the Division, including senior legal counsel and compliance and investigative staff and maintain awareness of all activity involving their assigned boards and related professions. The position will also work with state government contacts outside of the Division, including assigned attorneys from the Office of the Attorney General and staff from the State Records Center and Archives.

The customer includes professionals, applicants, insurance and credentialing companies and members of the public who are dependent on the services provided by the licensed professional.

Minimum Qualification
Associate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, and/or contract management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Applicants must have and maintain current drivers license, Defensive Driving Certificate and be able to pass a Background Check.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25lbs.
