Job Summary

 

Assist a Senior Partner with the management and progression of their caseload, dealing with queries from clients and assisting in legal matters and certain elements of fee earning work under supervision. 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to, the core areas of support described below: 

 

•       Assist the Partner with the management and progression of their caseload.

•       Be an integral member of the Partner’s team on transactions, assisting with taking forward discrete workstreams (depending on your precise level of qualification and experience).

•       Undertake legal research on a variety of matters and communicate research findings in a clear and comprehensive manner

•       Assist the Partner to review and draft legal and transactional documents clearly and concisely to ensure clarity and consistency. 

•       Assist the Partner to review incoming requests, queries, and instructions and establish priority for those requiring immediate action.

•       Prepare routine correspondence and replies to queries for the Partner.

•       Liaison with intermediaries on behalf of the Partner and clients 

•       Attend meetings as required and produce orderly and comprehensive notes 

•       Ensure that clients are dealt with efficiently and politely

•       Take instructions and conduct letter and telephone enquiries as necessary, ensuring that all legal matters are raised with the Partner. 

•       Assist with the processing of new business applications for new and existing clients, collating due diligence and liaising with Compliance and other departments as necessary.

•       Provide ongoing business support and assist with ad hoc projects 

•       Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts and professional conduct rules.

•       Charge time spent daily and assist with the management of WIP, cash collection and debtors’ process. Work efficiently to minimize write-offs. 

•       Meet any financial targets.

 

Person Specification

•       Chartered legal executive, experienced paralegal or qualified lawyer. 

•       Sound intellectual skills evidenced by a strong academic background

•       Demonstrates developed understanding of legal concepts and legal research, including relevant legislation, case law, and industry standards.

•       Familiar and confidence with sources of legal information e.g. Practical Law, LexisNexis

•       Developed analytical and drafting skills.

•       Demonstrates a keen interest and enthusiasm to learn about our clients’ businesses

•       Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and colleagues.

•       Demonstrates excellent organisational, time, project and diary management skills and the proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment to achieve objectives without sacrificing quality and accuracy.

•       Effective team player

•       Able to work on own initiative and occasionally without supervision 

•       Client orientated with the ability to handle highly confidential information and maintain high levels of confidentiality and discretion at all times. 

•       Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
