Position Overview:
The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney Legal Assistant (LA) is responsible for executing office procedures to ensure smooth, effective and efficient operation of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, and is responsible for completing all assigned tasks under the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (APA) and Prosecuting Attorney (PA) supervision.
The LA reports to the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (APA), and ultimately the Prosecuting Attorney (PA). The duties include maintaining office services, including computer networking, telephone and fax, day-to-day budget operations, internal and external communications, data entry and computer skills, database, case management system operations and file management.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Two relevant years of experience

General Responsibilities and Knowledge:
Maintaining office services; including telephone, fax, constituent communication, data entry and computer skills and file management.
Adapt to constant interruptions from the telephone, personal contact with constituents and office staff and requires a pleasant but firm cooperative demeanor.
Be capable and willing to spend long hours sitting or standing and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain and/or fatigue.
Be capable and willing to lift and move office supplies, materials and files on a daily basis, and be capable of lifting at least 40 pounds unassisted.
Be capable and willing to cope with interruptions from e-mail, case management system and the telephone, personal contact with constituents and office staff.
Maintain confidentiality by avoiding gossip or discussing open or closed civil or criminal cases or open or closed investigations.
Interact courteously and tactfully with office staff, supervisors, colleagues, constituents, law enforcement, the media and the public.
Meeting all deadlines as assigned.
Maintaining current bond and licensure as a Missouri Notary.
Maintain appropriate training and certification for MULES, WebCACS, Secure Case.net, Karpel, Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, or other programs.
Skill In:
· Organizing materials and documents and accurately maintaining records.
· Developing and maintaining professional relationships.
· Communicating orally and in writing.
· Exercising judgement and discretion.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
· Ability to sit or stand for long periods, utilizing office equipment and computers.
· Ability to lift and move office supplies, materials and files on a daily basis and therefore must be capable of lifting at least 40 pounds unassisted.
