Schaefer Law, PC, is a boutique firm in Woburn focusing in all areas of family law practice, probate, and estate planning. We are a small firm with terrific team members. The ideal candidate for this position has a minimum of 1-2 years of experience handling family law and/or probate matters, self-motivated, works well independently but also as part of a team, possess great writing skills, has excellent attention to detail, above average communication skills both verbal and written, and willing to take ownership of their job. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, initiative, and dependability. Flexibility and excellent organizational skills are also key in our fast‐paced environment.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Answering incoming telephone calls and directing inquiries as appropriate;
  • Managing attorney and court calendars, including calendaring hearings, deadlines, conferences, and other case-related events;
  • Manage case files to ensure all records are accurate, organized, and readily accessible.
  • Perform data entry related to case management and billing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm policies and procedures.
  • Conducting initial client intake, gathering preliminary case information, and assisting with client onboarding;
  • Coordinate hearings and other case events with the court, attorneys, and parties as needed;
  • Work with clients to gather and organize Rule 410 documents, as well as other discovery responses;
  • Work with clients to assist in preparing discovery responses and other disclosures and documents; and
  • Review court filings, discovery requests, discovery responses, correspondence, and the like and prepare additional documents for attorney review and finalization.

Experience & Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one to two years of experience in family law and/or probate. Candidates with less experience will be considered; , candidates with no relevant legal experience will not be considered.

  • High attention to detail
  • Comfortable with handling a high volume of cases
  • Ability to prioritize and meet time‐sensitive deadlines
  • Extraordinary organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience assisting with the completion of Massachusetts short and long form financial statements.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office and Clio case management & billing software.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
