Position Overview
The Legal Assistant at DYADlaw P.C. plays a critical role in supporting the legal team by handling a wide range of tasks related to U.S. immigration cases. This position requires a meticulous, organized, and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple case files efficiently while providing excellent service and support to our clients and attorneys.
Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
- Assist attorneys in the preparation and filing of various immigration forms and documents.
- Manage case files from initiation to completion, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Prepare legal correspondence, including letters to clients and government agencies.
- Collect, organize, and review client information and documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Process FOIA requests and manage responses, working with the legal team to address issues or updates to procedures and requirements.
- Assist in the collection and organization of evidence for case filings.
- Maintain an up-to-date and organized filing system for all legal documents.
- Communicate regularly with clients to gather information, convey case updates, and handle other inquiries as needed.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
- Prepare and process Responses to Evidence (RFEs) as requested by immigration authorities.
- Coordinate with clients to gather necessary documentation and information in response to RFEs.
- Assemble case files and prepare them for review by the legal team.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on all case materials to ensure accuracy and completeness before submission.
- Review case files regularly to identify and rectify any discrepancies or missing documents.
- Provide guidance for delegated tasks to other support staff.
- File immigration court pleadings and supporting documentation in the EOIR portal.
Requirements
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in legal studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field preferred; however, candidates with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
- At least 2-5 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in an immigration law firm.
- Familiarity with immigration procedures and legal terminology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
