We are currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Personal Injury & Compensation team in our Melbourne office. You will support a litigation team with all administrative tasks, as well as other duties, that will include: 

  • Providing a great level of care and support to our clients in a professional manner
  • Building strong relationships with our clients, internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting the team with general file management and administration
  • Coordinating appointments for our lawyers, medico-legal appointments for our clients, conferences and mediations
  • Communicating with clients, insurers and other professionals both in writing and verbally
  • Preparing legal correspondence and compiling court documents
  • Preparing matters for conferences and hearings

*Please note this is a full-time in-person role. We are currently not accepting applications from junior/graduate lawyers or law students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare correspondence
  • Email and calendar management
  • Maintain and organise client files
  • Communicate with clients, insurers, medical providers, courts, barristers etc.
  • Schedule appointments, hearings, and deadlines
  • Assist in the day-to-day tasks
  • Claim management and progression of files

About You

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable learning new software systems
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Positive attitude, team player, and proactive problem-solve
  • A minimum of 6-12 months administrative experience is required
  • Legal or law firm administrative experience is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, especially with medical documents and record keeping  
  • Clear, empathetic communication with vulnerable clients experiencing health and financial stress  
  • Good organisation skills and ability to work to KPIs and deadlines  
  • Collaborative, values aligned approach, treating clients and colleagues with respect and acting ethically
