Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid Legal Assistant role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, with the flexibility to work from home part of the time. The Legal Assistant will support legal and compliance professionals by drafting, formatting, and organizing legal and regulatory documents, including correspondence, agreements, and filings. Daily responsibilities include managing calendars, scheduling meetings, organizing case files, maintaining document management systems, and tracking deadlines. The role involves conducting basic legal and regulatory research, assisting with compliance documentation, and preparing materials for client meetings and regulatory submissions. The Legal Assistant will communicate with internal team members and clients professionally, ensuring timely responses, accurate documentation, and strict confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, proofreading, and organizing legal and regulatory documents.
- Experience providing administrative assistance in a legal, compliance, or professional services environment, including calendar management and file organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Previous experience in a Legal Assistant or similar support role in a law firm, compliance consultancy, or in-house legal department is an asset.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft 365), billing (Clio, PC Law, QuickBooks Online) and document management tools (SharePoint).
- Post-secondary education in Legal Studies, Law Clerk, Paralegal, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
