Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Legal Assistant role based in Edmonton, AB. The Legal Assistant will support personal injury files from intake through resolution, including organizing client information, maintaining physical and electronic files, and managing calendars and deadlines. Day-to-day tasks include drafting and formatting legal documents and correspondence, preparing file briefs, and assisting with disclosure and document production. The role involves regular communication with clients, medical providers, insurers, and other law firms by phone, email, and in writing. The Legal Assistant will also handle general administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, arranging meetings, managing incoming and outgoing mail, and supporting lawyers with trial or settlement preparation.

Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of law and legal processes, ideally with experience or education in personal injury or litigation.
  • Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, and proofreading correspondence, pleadings, and other legal forms.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
  • Experience providing administrative assistance in a legal or professional office, including scheduling, file management, and data entry.
  • Experience or training as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or similar role within a law firm or legal environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with office and legal software (e.g., Microsoft Office, document management systems) and comfort working with electronic files.
  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in Legal Assistant, Paralegal Studies, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in an on-site environment, maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics.
