Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our Land Use department. As a Legal Assistant, you will provide essential support to our land use team, ensuring the smooth operation of our legal processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for law and a desire to contribute to the success of a fast-paced legal practice.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities (but Not Limited To)
Manage administrative tasks such as client payments, managing received mail and plans, and thorough record keeping
Organize and maintain all case files, including indexing/filing documents
Coordinate with clients, professionals, municipalities representatives and other parties involved in the application process
Open and close files
Documenting receipt of plans and reports
Prepare correspondence and communicate with clients on behalf of attorneys
Assemble and send certified mail
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information questions and requests
Answer phones in a pleasant and professional manner and communicating with clients, lenders, professionals, and other attorneys, daily by phone, email, and mailed correspondence
Skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
Qualifications
2-5 Years of experience as a Legal Assistant
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to the Land Use Practice area is required
Associate’s degree or certification in paralegal studies is a plus
Knowledge in document management system iManage and billing system Orion is a plus
