Nature and Variety of Work

Under the supervision of the Re-Entry Court Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for assessing a participant’s level of risk to public safety, evaluating the participant’s needs and abilities, establishing individual plans for supervision, and assisting participants with various community resources.

Examples of Work

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Conducts orientation meetings with new participants to explain program rules and regulations, ensuring each participant understands their responsibilities as outlined in the contract.
Screens participants at the jail to determine eligibility for entry into the program.
Manages a caseload of participants using the principles of the State of Maryland Automated Record Tracking System.
Installs electronic monitoring equipment on new participants when necessary.
Ensures that all policies and procedures are followed for offenders utilizing tracking devices such as GPS, electronic monitors, and alcohol monitoring equipment, and oversees urinalysis testing.
Enters, retrieves, and interprets information from the Inmate Accounting System and Criminal Justice Information Systems at local, state, and federal levels.
Accesses various menus on the county network to enter, retrieve, and interpret information from the Inmate Accounting System and Criminal Justice System at local, state, and federal levels.
Meets regularly with participants and documents their progress or regress in the State of Maryland Automated Record Tracking database.
Conducts risk and needs assessments and develops individual treatment plans for each assigned participant.
Testifies in court regarding participants’ compliance with court orders when applicable.
Reports all program violations to the appropriate agency or official according to established reporting parameters.
Monitors participant compliance with alcohol and/or drug counseling when required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, social services, sociology, psychology, or other related fields with experience in counseling; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
