CIEL Properties Development Ltd is seeking an experienced Legal and Compliance Officer to play a key role in safeguarding legal and regulatory compliance, supporting business operations, and promoting strong governance practices across its growing property portfolio.

Legal and Compliance Officer

The Legal and Compliance Officer will be responsible for providing legal support across the Property Cluster while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies. The incumbent will act as Compliance Officer, Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Lead Data Protection Officer (Lead DPO) for the Cluster.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide legal support to management and business units.
  • Review and draft contracts, leases, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise on their impact.
  • Act as Lead Data Protection Officer for the cluster, and Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for designated entities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including AML/CFT and data privacy.
  • Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures and risk assessments.
  • Deliver AML/CFT, and data protection training and awareness initiatives.
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, compliance reporting, and Board reporting.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in legal and compliance functions, ideally within a regulated environment.
  • Experience in AML/CFT compliance, legal drafting, contract review, and regulatory reporting.
  • Knowledge of Mauritian legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
