Department Information

The Attorney General through the Charitable Trusts Section regulates charities, charitable trusts, and professional fundraisers who solicit on their behalf. The Charitable Trusts Section investigates and brings legal and administrative actions to enforce the registration and reporting requirements, recovers charitable assets on behalf of the People of the State of California, addresses violations of corporate governance, and protects the public from fraudulent or abusive fundraising practices.
