- DETAILS OF POSITION
1.1. Post : Legal Adviser
1.2. Grade : VU7
1.3. Status of Appointment : Contract (Contract of Service)
1.4. Basic Salary : Between RM7,990.00 – RM22,040.00 (based on experience)
1.5 Allowances : RM5,466.00
- QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
2.1. Possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognised university and has been called to the Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor in Malaysia;
2.2. Possess extensive legal practice experience for at least fifteen (15) years; and
2.3 Goal-oriented, highly motivated, proactive, and diligent in execution, with a keen interest and profound experience in the field of law.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1. To serve as the primary adviser on legal affairs concerning the University to the University Board of Governors (BOG) and any other University authorities.
3.2. To serve as the Head of the Office of the Legal Adviser.
3.3. To serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Governors and the Senate.
3.4. To be responsible for all University legal matters, including:
- Advising the University on all legal issues; b. Preparing, reviewing, and approving legal instruments; c. Managing matters related to legal transactions; d. Managing litigation-related matters; and e. Managing matters related to staff disciplinary proceedings.
3.5. To serve as a member of the University Management Committee and any other committees as prescribed by the IIUM Constitution, Rules or Regulations.
3.6. To execute any instruments or documents related to the University’s legal affairs with the consent of the University Board of Governors.
3.7. To provide advice regarding disciplinary matters involving University staff and students.
3.8. To exercise such powers and perform such duties as prescribed by the IIUM Constitution, Rules or Regulations.
3.9. To carry out other duties and functions as directed by the Rector from time to time.
