Position Overview
We are seeking a practical, detail-oriented, and commercially minded Legal Administrator to support the business primarily in a compliance and risk capacity, with secondary responsibility for general legal and governance support.
This role is best suited to a candidate with hands-on legal and compliance experience within a corporate or regulated business environment, rather than a purely litigation or private legal practice background.
The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day operational management of compliance obligations, including FICA, AML, KYC, POPIA, and internal governance requirements. The role will also support the business with practical legal administration, contract coordination, policy management, and general legal support functions.
This is a highly operational role requiring a candidate who is organised, proactive, detail-driven, and comfortable working across compliance monitoring, risk administration, and legal support activities.

Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Risk Responsibilities (Primary Focus – Approximately 60%)
- Assist with implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of compliance frameworks and regulatory obligations
- Maintain compliance registers, dashboards, monitoring schedules, and compliance records
- Conduct KYC, AML, FICA, due diligence, and onboarding reviews
- Assist with compliance monitoring activities and follow-up remediation actions
- Support the development and maintenance of Risk Management and Compliance Programmes (RMCPs)
- Monitor compliance with applicable legislation and internal policies, including:
- FICA
- POPIA
- FAIS (where applicable)
- Companies Act
- Internal governance frameworks
- Prepare compliance reports, monitoring findings, and risk updates
- Assist with internal audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews
- Track regulatory developments and assist with implementation of legislative changes
- Support regulatory reporting and submission requirements
- Maintain accurate compliance documentation and audit trails
- Assist with implementation and management of compliance systems and dashboards
- Liaise with operational departments to ensure ongoing regulatory adherence
- Assist with drafting, reviewing, and updating compliance policies and procedures
Legal & Governance Support (Secondary Focus – Approximately 40%)
- Provide practical legal and administrative support to the business
- Assist with drafting, reviewing, formatting, and maintaining agreements and legal documents
- Support contract administration and document management processes
- Assist with legal research and interpretation of legislation where required
- Maintain legal registers, templates, and filing systems
- Assist with governance and company secretarial administration where required
- Coordinate communication and documentation with external legal service providers
- Support the business with general legal administration and compliance-related queries
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- LLB degree, Paralegal qualification, or equivalent legal qualification essential
Experience
- 3–5 years’ practical experience in a corporate legal, compliance, governance, or risk environment
- Experience within a corporate or regulated business environment essential
- Practical hands-on experience with:
- FICA
- AML
- KYC
- Compliance monitoring
- Regulatory reporting
- Risk administration
- Compliance documentation
- Candidates with experience in legal administration, compliance coordination, governance support, or corporate paralegal functions are encouraged to apply
- Candidates with extensive long-term litigation-only backgrounds may be less suitable for this role
