Job summary:

We are seeking a Corporate Counsel – Security. This position will be responsible for addressing a variety of security matters and supporting NetApp’s entire business, including cybersecurity incident response, cybersecurity laws, industry and government certifications, cybersecurity by design, and global cybersecurity compliance. We seek a candidate to develop our legal security program in an evolving environment. This role is in-person in San Jose, CA, Washington D.C. metro area, Boulder, CO or RTP, NC.

Job responsibilities:
Support NetApp’s response to security and data incidents in collaboration with the Security teams. This involves efficiently managing a wide range of investigations and responses with multiple stakeholders, including security, engineering, support, internal legal teams, and outside counsel
Assist in maintaining a security incident and vulnerability response program, covering threat detection, investigation, containment, and mitigation
Assist with achieving and maintaining security certifications and standards for both public and private sectors
Support NetApp’s sales organization in entering regulated markets with heightened cybersecurity requirements
Support NetApp’s public sector security legal team with cyber related federal regulations
Analyze and ensure compliance with global cybersecurity laws such as NIS2 and DORA.
Collaborate with Security, Product, and Marketing teams to review public statements about security
Provide security-by-design product counseling
Advise NetApp’s legal commercial teams on cybersecurity contract negotiations and related issues for customers, partners, and vendors
Job requirements:
8 years as a practicing cybersecurity attorney, preferably at a tech company
Experience with security frameworks and compliance (NIST 800-53, NIST 800-71, ISO27001, SOC 1, SOC 2)
Knowledge of U.S. cybersecurity laws (CFAA, CIS Act, ECPA) and familiarity with global standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Education:
BA/BS and JD from an accredited law school with 6+ years of related experience
