About The Opportunity
DBM Law has an opportunity for a Legal Administrative Assistant with 2+ years of experience to join our Family Law team in Coquitlam, British Columbia. The position is an in-office, full-time role.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Prepare correspondence and legal documents from handwritten and precedent documents
Maintain bring forward or tracking system for limitation and follow-up dates
Respond to client calls and general inquiries
Speak with and correspond with the courts and opposing counsel regarding scheduling of hearings, trials, examinations for discovery and other events involved in the litigation process
Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes and couriers
Review and file e-mail correspondence for self and lawyer
Time entry and invoice preparation
Perform a variety of administrative tasks, such as file maintenance and organization
Open and close client files
More About You
To qualify, you will have graduated from a Legal Administrative Assistant program or have other legal administrative work experience. Training will be provided for a successful candidate who is new to family law.
The following skills and experiences are also required:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)Â
Understanding of court procedures and documentation, or a willingness to learn;
Experience working with Court Services Online would be an asset;
Experience working with DivorceMate or DivorcePath would be an asset;
Experience working with Amicus Attorney, PCLaw and Primafact would be an asset;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Attention to detail is essential;
Strong organizational skills.
