EXPERIENCED BILINGUAL ASSOCIATE IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY
Fuerza Immigration Lawyers, is seeking a Spanish and/or Portuguese-speaking Associate Immigration Attorney with at least three years’ immigration law experience. This is a full-time, in-person position with excellent compensation and benefits.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Associate Attorneys perform most of the following duties:
Offer clear and concise advice to clients regarding their immigration options under current law and procedures.
Supervise the drafting of forms and gathering of evidence for cases.
Work collaboratively with supervising attorneys, associate attorneys, paralegals, and other support staff to prepare cases.
Maintain organized case notes and information in the firm’s case management system.
Manage an independent caseload and provide case support to the partners.
Diligently track casework to keep on top of strategic goals.
Conduct legal research and writing in support of both affirmative and defensive applications as well as in support of federal litigation and advocacy before various immigration agencies.
Maintain current knowledge of immigration law and policy changes to develop case strategies and provide guidance to staff.
Help to improve office systems, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Meet with clients to interview clients about sensitive matters and draft client statements.
Draft summary memos outlining the scope of the anticipated legal services, including fee agreement and staff assignments.
Represent clients before various government agencies during interviews and hearings.
Attend staff and attorney meetings regularly.
Participate in educational, team-building, and other company-sponsored events scheduled during working hours.
A successful candidate must be detail-oriented and highly organized to manage a high-volume docket. Excellent time management skills, trustworthiness, reliability, and the ability to work independently are a must.

Fuerza is located in Downtown Oakland near the corner of Broadway and 13th Street, directly above the 12th Street/Oakland City Center BART station. The 13th Street Commons (a street art installation and public plaza/cafe table area) is directly in front of our building.

THE START DATE AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
This position is open immediately but may be extended to a later date for the right candidate.
This is not a remote position, although some remote work may be permitted. Associate Attorneys manage confidential and highly sensitive information and are assigned private offices to discreetly attend to clients in-person.
COMPENSATION
Salary range $120,000-$150,000 annually, depending primarily on experience practicing immigration law, language skills, and education.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
Near native fluency in spoken Spanish. Ability to also speak Portuguese with conversational fluency or better is a plus.
Active State Bar license in any of the 50 states.
Minimum of three years’ experience practicing immigration law as a licensed attorney.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
J.D. degree, or equivalent, with an excellent academic record, from an accredited law school.
Authorized to accept employment in the United States.
