We are seeking a skilled Legal Assistant/Secretary to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to lawyers and enhance office effectiveness. The role requires strong writing, communication skills and organizational skills. This position can be filled by an individual with less experience in the legal field, but intelligent and willing to learn or by a more experienced person. The position would require 5 days a week in the office.
A small but busy boutique firm in New Brunswick practicing primarily family law seeks a family law Legal Assitant. The ideal candidate should have at least 1-2 years of family law experience.
Duties
-Complete Case Information Statements
-Calculate child support guidelines
-Draft pleadings and conduct legal research
– Maintain and organize legal files and documents
– Coordinate appointments, including managing attorney calendars
– Communicate with clients and court personnel via phone and email
– Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence
– Perform general administrative tasks to support the legal team
– Excellent writing skills
Skills
– Strong administrative skills with the ability to multitask effectively
– Excellent writing abilities
– Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
– Ability to work independently after training
Compensation commensurate to the individual’s experience, skills and ability to work independently
