Our client, a reputable law firm is looking for a motivated lawyer to join our Financial Crime Compliance Team, focusing on AML, CFT, and sanctions advisory. Working closely with a senior partner, you will receive direct mentorship, hands-on supervision, and guidance in a fast-paced regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Advisory: Advise clients on AML/CFT, sanctions, and financial crime compliance requirements.
- Documentation: Draft and review compliance policies, procedures, manuals, and legal advice.
- Regulatory Support: Assist clients during regulatory examinations, remediation projects, and interactions with supervisory authorities.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Track changes in local and EU regulations regarding AML/CFT, sanctions, beneficial ownership, and reporting.
- Sector Engagement: Work directly with funds, investment firms, financial institutions, and corporate service providers.
Expanded Scope: Banking & Finance Experience (Optional / Dual-Focus)
– Depending on the candidate’s background, this role may also encompass broader banking and finance transactions, including advising lenders and borrowers on asset, project, and corporate financing.
– Responsibilities in this area involve conducting due diligence, drafting security arrangements, financing documentation, and legal opinions, and liaising directly with financial institutions.
– Candidates with a strong grounding in Corporate and Civil Law and a keen interest in Maltese and EU banking regulations are strongly encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
- Fully qualified lawyer
- Previous experience in regulatory compliance, or financial services is preferred
- Strong interest in AML, CFT, sanctions, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent research, drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and spoken English with sharp attention to detail.
- Proactive, organized, and collaborative approach to work.
