The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Associate or Senior Associate to join a highly regarded Professional & Financial Risks Litigation team based in Sydney CBD.

This role offers exposure to a diverse range of insurance litigation matters with a particular focus on:

  • Professional Indemnity
  • Public Liability
  • Product Liability
  • Financial Risks Litigation
  • Strata-related Claims
  • Construction-related Disputes
  • Sports and Leisure Liability Matters

Working alongside highly experienced Principals and Senior Lawyers, you will be heavily involved in all aspects of litigation matters from inception through to resolution. You will have direct client contact, strategic input into matters and the opportunity to further develop your advocacy, advisory and practice management skills.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Minimum 4 years' post-admission experience in insurance litigation or commercial litigation
  • Experience in public liability, product liability and/or professional indemnity matters
  • Strong technical legal skills and litigation experience
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical abilities
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A genuine interest in the strata, construction, sports and leisure sectors
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • A proactive and client-focused approach
  • The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and assisting on a broad range of insurance litigation matters
  • Advising insurers, corporate clients and professionals on liability and risk issues
  • Drafting pleadings, court documents, advices and correspondence
  • Conducting legal research and providing strategic advice
  • Attending mediations, settlement conferences and court appearances
  • Managing stakeholder relationships and client communications
  • Working closely with senior practitioners on complex litigation matters
  • Contributing to business development and client relationship initiatives
