Kenney Legal is a boutique law firm based in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne; we specialise in Wills, Estates, and Probate law. Our mission is to provide personalised and high-quality legal services, prioritising the protection and preservation of family legacies. We offer a comprehensive range of services, including estate planning, will drafting, probate administration, elder law advice and conveyancing services. We are currently a solo practice seeking to expand by engaging a dedicated and experienced lawyer to join the firm to assist the Principal Solicitor in managing business workflow.
Role Description
This is a casual role where the solicitor will work remotely but be required to attend locations throughout Melbourne to execute various legal documents. Day to day responsibilities include drafting wills, providing legal advice on estate planning, conducing probate and estate administration, representing clients in legal proceedings, and reviewing legal documents for accuracy and compliance. The role will also include some conveyancing processes. The role requires effective communication with clients and stakeholders to provide insights and guidance throughout every stage of the legal process. You are expected to be autonomous in your ability to work through the workload and proactively problem solve issues as they arise.
Your casual hours may vary and will primarily be dictated by business workflow. The hours provided to you will be somewhat flexible but need to fit in with core business needs.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Wills, Estates, and Probate law, with a strong understanding of legal frameworks and best practices in estate planning and elder law
- Experience in legal drafting, document review, and conducting research to provide informed legal advice
- Strong negotiation, mediation, and litigation skills where applicable
- Excellent verbal and written communication for client interactions and legal document preparation
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and adhere to deadlines
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law with a current practicing certificate in Victoria
- Experience in a boutique firm or similar legal field is an advantage
- Experience in conveyancing in preferred but not required
- Experience in Clio practice Management System is preferred but not required
- Commitment to client confidentiality, ethical practices, and attentive client care
- A valid Australian Drivers Licence is required.
