Job Description
A workers’compensation paralegal works in the area of workers’ compensation law. Workers’ compensation law is a practice area that covers workers’ compensation cases, which are procedures through which employees seek to get compensation and benefits when they are injured while working at their jobs. Paralegals in this field communicate with clients, draft documents, attend depositions, and engage in other matters to assist attorneys who practice in this area. Because workers’ compensation paralegals are not attorneys and have not been admitted to the bars of any state, they must always work under the direction of a practicing attorney.
Workers’ Compensation Attorney – Remote
Our client, a Workers’ Compensation defense law firm, is currently in search of Senior and Associate Attorneys with a minimum of 3 years of experience in workers’ comp – either plaintiff or defense side for a remote position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Residency in California or Colorado and possession of a CA Bar license are required.
Attorneys manage the legal defense of workers’ compensation cases from inception to final resolution, including all aspects of discovery and litigation. The attorneys work closely with insurance companies, employers, and third-party administrators.
Qualifications
Advocate on behalf of insurance carriers, 3rd party administrators, and self-insured employers
Prepare and manage correspondence to clients
Draft pleadings and negotiate settlements on workers’ compensation files
Attend court appearances, manage calendar, and conduct depositions and cross-examinations of doctors
Negotiate lien claims and perform proactive case management
Mentor and oversee legal assistant, ensuring effective case support
Establish and maintain relationships with clients, co-workers, and vendors
Participate in marketing events with both new and existing clients
Review and work on files, inputting case information into PracticeMaster and billing software
Meet deadlines for client correspondence and attend client file reviews
Conduct training seminars for clients on evolving workers’ compensation case law
Stay updated on current knowledge of workers’ compensation case law
