Position Focus:
The mission of the Center for Public Theology and Public Policy at Yale Divinity School is to prepare and train a new generation of moral leaders to be active participants in creating a just society using the academic, practical, and research tools of past and present social justice movements. The Center examines and teaches the theory and practice of public theology, principles, and strategies of transformative social movements; provides students with opportunities for practical experience in movement-building work and public ministry; and cultivates research at the intersection of theology and public policy, critically framing public policy issues as moral issues and creating moral public policy solutions in collaboration with scholars, faith leaders, economists, lawyers, and the community.
The Program Administrator will report to the Center Associate Director and will promote the mission and programs of the Center and develop, organize, and oversee programs and activities for students’ involvement. She/he will recruit students into and direct the Center Summer Internship Program. The Program Administrator will work closely with Yale Divinity School, Yale College and Yale Law School faculty, staff and administration to promote the work of the Center and collaborate on projects, events and programs. The Program Administrator will also identify and build relationships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with the goal of establishing relationships with these institutions and developing on-going programs between the Center and at least one HBCU.
Key Responsibilities: Outreach and Recruitment: Actively reach out to students to inform them about the Center’s classes, programs and activities and encourage participation. Program Development: Design and coordinate a variety of student engagement activities and programs. Event Planning and Promotion: Plan and execute engaging events and activities to promote the Center. Student Support: Provide individual academic coaching and guidance to students, assisting them in identifying academic challenges, developing study strategies, and utilizing available resources effectively. Collaboration: Work closely with Yale Divinity School faculty, students, student organizations, academic centers and other University departments to identify areas of potential collaboration. Work with internal and external partners to create programs. Communication: Develop materials to promote the Center’s events, activities, and programs.
Essential Duties
1. In support of the overall mission, plans, directs and oversees programmatic activities. 2. Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies and procedures. 3. Manages program communications; identifies outreach potential, and promotes philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. 4. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, and community residents to further develop and implement strategic plans. 5. Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program. 6. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals, and objectives. Develops metrics to identify and measure the success of the program. 7. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications. 8. Develops and manages the program’s operating budget. 9. Manages the administrative infrastructure of the program. Manages human resources including staffing and hiring, supervision, performance development, counseling and discipline, if warranted. Oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
