* Our Organization and Mission:

The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco licenses the manufacture, distribution, sale, and service of alcoholic beverage and tobacco products in Florida, including receipt and processing of license applications; collection and auditing of taxes and fees paid by licensees; and enforcement of the laws and regulation of the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries, pursuant to Chapters 210, 561-565, 567-569, Florida Statutes.

The division’s three bureaus – Licensing, Auditing and Enforcement – comprise a team of approximately 325 personnel fulfilling the regulatory obligations of the division throughout the state.

The Work You Will Do:

This is an opportunity to serve as a state law enforcement officer in Florida. Employees demonstrating advanced investigative and critical thinking skills normally excel within this Bureau. Employees are challenged with shifting seamlessly from regulatory investigators to law enforcement officers during their investigative activities. The Bureau seeks applicants interested in investigating complex crimes while deterring underage access to alcoholic beverages, tobacco and nicotine products.

These positions require team members to work some nights and weekends as necessary.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Selected candidates will plan, conduct, and complete criminal, administrative and civil investigations for which the Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco has jurisdiction, as described:

* Plans, conducts and completes all or portions of criminal, administrative, and civil investigations.

* Conducts minimum age compliance surveys (alcohol and tobacco), prepares work plan involving the public and other government agencies to reduce or eliminate non-compliance, and completes planned activities making adjustments as needed.

* Independently conducts investigations of stolen or counterfeit cigarette tax stamps; unlawful shipments of deliveries of alcoholic beverages or tobacco products into the State; non-tax paid alcoholic beverages, tobacco products and fraudulent applications, tax returns, and records; and unlawful ties between manufacturers or distributors and retailers of alcoholic beverages.

* Prepares well-composed, accurate reports and submits documentation within specified time frames.

* Conducts interviews, testifies in official legal proceedings, and participates in cooperative investigations with other agencies.

* Provides training regarding State laws and rules which the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco is responsible for enforcing. Participates in community prevention and education events.

* Enforces final orders, settlement agreements, and court orders, makes arrests, serves warrants, recruits and documents informants, and accounts for investigative expenses.

* Plans, conducts and completes inspections of businesses licensed to sell or serve alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, to promote compliance.

* Participates in training as required or assigned and properly maintains issued equipment.

* Maintains familiarity with the division’s written policies and procedures, departmental legal opinions, statutory changes, rules, agency directives, and court decisions.

* Performs other related duties and participates in state declared emergency operations as assigned which may involve extended travel outside of the assigned area in the event of activation.

* Maintains proper physical conditioning to perform the duties of a sworn law enforcement officer.
