Overview
Law Clerk / Legal Assistant – Civil Litigation Jobs in Irvine, CA at Kazempour Law APC
Overview
Kazempour Law, APC is a solo litigation practice seeking a highly analytical Law Clerk / Legal Assistant to work directly with the attorney on active civil litigation matters. The practice focuses primarily on housing litigation, with some real estate litigation and some employment litigation.
This position is best suited for someone who is exceptionally intelligent, analytical, and a strong writer. What matters most is raw analytical ability, clear thinking, excellent writing, and the discipline to learn complex material quickly.
This is not a traditional clerical legal assistant position. You will work on pleadings, discovery, legal research, document analysis, case organization, client communications, and litigation strategy. Beyond the legal work, you will gain exposure to how a law practice operates as a business, including client relations, billing, operations, and day-to-day management.
Prior legal experience is not required. I will teach you the legal work. What matters most is that you are highly intelligent, analytically sharp, disciplined, and able to learn complex material quickly. Above all, I am looking for someone hungry: a person with a strong work ethic who shows up reliably, works hard, and is genuinely eager to learn and grow. High school students are welcome to apply — for example, a strong high school senior who tutors math or another analytical subject would be a great fit. Strong academic performance is still required, and applicants under 18 must be able to obtain a work permit as required by California law.
Schedule and Location
This is an in-person position. Full-time (Monday through Friday) is preferred, but part-time schedules are available for current students, including high school students.
Please note: the firm is currently transitioning offices and will likely be located near the Irvine Spectrum. The current office is at 3 Park Plaza, Irvine.
The role may grow into additional responsibilities based on performance and the needs of the practice.
Responsibilities
– Draft and revise demand letters, complaints, pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal correspondence
– Handle extensive client communication, including intake, updates, and correspondence
– Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and other research platforms
– Organize and analyze large volumes of documents, records, and case information
– Prepare exhibits, timelines, summaries, and litigation materials
– Electronically file documents with the courts
– Track deadlines and maintain litigation calendars in Microsoft Outlook
– Assist with timekeeping, billing, and case-management records
– Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and vendors
– Support deposition, mediation, hearing, arbitration, and trial preparation
– Proofread and finalize documents for filing or service
Training Provided
I will provide hands-on training in civil litigation, legal drafting, discovery, court filing procedures, legal calendaring, client communication, billing, and law office operations.
You will also learn the business of practicing law inside and out, including client relations, billing and collections, operations, vendor management, and day-to-day firm administration.
You will be expected to combine that training with your analytical ability and strong writing to perform substantive litigation work.
Minimum Qualifications
– A cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher is required
– Current enrollment in, or graduation from, a strong, well-regarded academic institution (exceptional high school students are also welcome to apply)
– Exceptional analytical and critical-thinking ability
– Excellent writing, grammar, reading comprehension, and organizational skills
– Strong attention to detail
– Professional maturity, reliability, and sound judgment
– Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
– Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and concepts quickly
– A strong work ethic and genuine eagerness to learn (hungry and driven)
– Reliable attendance and a consistent, dependable in-person presence
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a copy of their academic transcript (unofficial is acceptable at the application stage) demonstrating a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher. Applications without a transcript may not be considered.
Preferred (Not Required)
A technical or quantitative background is welcome but not required. Preference may be given to candidates with strengths in areas such as:
– Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other engineering fields
– Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics
– Information Systems or other analytical disciplines
Candidates from any academic background are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate exceptional analytical ability, strong writing skills, and sound judgment. Comfort with everyday technology and a willingness to use helpful software tools is a plus. Bonus points if you know how to use the latest AI models — and even more if you can write code and have experience building or deploying AI-powered tools.
What You Will Gain
This position provides hands-on exposure to litigation and the business of running a law practice. You will learn how legal cases are analyzed, developed, documented, and resolved, and how a legal business operates day to day.
