Job Title: Associate Attorney – Premises Liability & Inadequate Security (Retail Defense Litigation)

We’re looking for an Associate Attorney who thrives on complexity, anticipates arguments three steps ahead, and brings surgical precision to high-stakes defense litigation. You’ll join a battle-tested team that defends national retailers, commercial property owners, and businesses facing serious liability claims, often involving allegations of personal injury, inadequate security, or wrongful death.
You won’t be buried in paperwork. You’ll be on the ground, building cases, collaborating directly with investigators, meeting clients onsite, and shaping defense strategies that are both smart and aggressive.
What You’ll Do:
Own and manage a caseload of premises liability and negligent security matters, many involving retail industry defendants
Conduct depositions, site visits, witness interviews, and expert coordination
Draft dispositive motions, including summary judgments that set precedents
Appear in state and federal court to advocate for high-profile clients
Work directly with retail risk managers, insurers, and internal litigation teams
Balance legal precision with real-world strategy, helping clients decide when to settle and when to go to war
Who You Are:
You’re not just a litigator. You’re a legal tactician, a courtroom communicator, and someone who thrives under pressure. You’ve worked in high-volume environments before, and you know how to hit the ground running without handholding.
Must-Haves:
JD from an accredited law school
Active member of the Texas Bar
3–6 years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience
Direct experience with premises liability, negligent security, or related tort matters
Strong deposition, motion writing, and client communication skills
Precise timekeeper (our practice runs on accuracy and accountability)
Bonus Points For:
Defense work for national retailers, commercial landlords, or property managers
Experience in wrongful death or inadequate security claims
Trial or first-chair litigation experience
Familiarity with Texas tort reform and statutory defenses
