Overview
Kemper is one of the nation’s leading specialized insurers, providing personalized insurance solutions to individuals, families, and businesses. The Law Clerk Intern Program is based in Cerritos, California and offers a professional learning experience within our civil litigation practice.
Law Clerk Intern Program
The program equips law students with hands‑on exposure to civil litigation matters. Interns collaborate with attorneys and paralegals on pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with drafting discovery responses, reporting to claims, and preparing for mediation, arbitration, or trial.
- Work independently or as part of a team to draft pleadings, gather documents, and facilitate client communication.
- Conduct legal research as needed.
Qualifications
- Currently a 2nd or 3rd year law student (4th year for part‑time or JD/MBA programs) enrolled in an ABA‑approved law school.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Energetic, self‑directed, and able to work with little supervision.
- Interest in civil litigation, personal injury, and insurance.
- Good collaborative and relationship‑building skills.
