Duties:
– Assist attorneys in preparing a wide range of applications, such as: I-485, Adjustment of Status; I-130, Petition for Alien Relative; I-765, Application for Employment Authorization; I-131, Application for Travel Document; N-400, Application for Naturalization; and others.
– File and organize legal documents
– Gather relevant information for cases through effective client communication
– Proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
– Answer phone calls and take messages with proper phone etiquette
– Maintaining regular communication with clients, keeping them informed about case progress, obtaining necessary information, and answering their basic legal queries under attorney’s supervision
– Work closely with attorney, paralegals, and other legal professionals to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment
Experience/ Qualifications:
– Previous experience as an immigration legal assistant is required
– Bilingual (Spanish/ English) required
– Knowledge of immigration legal terminology and procedures
– Proficient in using Microsoft office software: word and excel
– Knowledge of immigration law case management system is desirable
– Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure
