Law Clerk III Jobs in Washington, DC at Amentum
BASIC FUNCTION: Provide direct services to victims of domestic violence which support and enhance the victim’s right to her/his rights under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act and other related laws.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Act as liaison between Groundwork and the medical and criminal justice systems.
2. Develop contacts with and implement training programs on domestic violence services for criminal justice and medical personnel.
3. Advocate for victims of domestic violence, providing relevant information, ongoing support, and aiding access to appropriate resources.
4. Provide court and medical advocacy service to victims of domestic violence.
5. Participate in on call services.
6. Assist with and submit required reports to appropriate supervisory staff.
7. Communicate problems and issues of concern to supervisor.
8. Work collaboratively with other agencies.
9. Assist GACS administration in any investigation against conduct that is illegal.
10. On call duties as assigned.
10. Other duties as assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Attend agency meetings as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
2. Interest in gender-based issues, family dynamics and the legal and social service delivery system.
3. Forty (40) hours of Domestic Violence Training prior to serving victims.
4. Forty (40) hours of Sexual Assault Training within 6 months of hire.
5. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
6. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
7. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials.
8. Ability to work flexible hours.
