Managing Clerk

We are assisting one of our clients in finding an experienced Managing Clerk to join their New York office. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive guidance to multiple practice groups and attorneys on court rules, procedures, and strategies, while also managing the docket and court services for the firm. Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain the litigation docket and calendar.

Record all incoming and outgoing documents, ensuring compliance with procedural deadlines.

Oversee electronic filings in various courts, staying updated on filing rules, procedures, and judge-specific practices.

Monitor case progress, track court updates, and communicate changes to attorneys.

Act as a liaison with court personnel, establishing strong working relationships with court staff, process servers, and couriers.

Research court procedural rules and implement updates as necessary.

Support various projects, including docket audits, motion lists, and appeals lists.

Respond to procedural inquiries from attorneys and legal professionals.

Maintain proficiency in state and federal court systems, including electronic filing processes.

Qualifications

6+ years of Managing Clerk experience in a law firm environment.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Proficient in utilizing court-related databases (e.g., Courtlink, PACER, eLaw, CourtAlert).

Hands-on experience with rules-based calendaring software (e.g., CourtAlert, CompuLaw, or ProLaw).

Deep understanding of litigation practices, including the ability to identify deadlines triggered by filings and documents.

Strong familiarity with New York Civil Practice Law & Rules (CPLR) and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to respond to procedural inquiries effectively.
