Role Description The Law Clerk is a full-time, on-site role based in Riverside, CA, supporting attorneys in all aspects of family law practice. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, analyzing statutes and case law, and summarizing findings in clear, organized memoranda. The Law Clerk will assist with drafting and formatting pleadings, motions, declarations, discovery requests, and other family law documents, as well as reviewing filings for accuracy and completeness. The role involves organizing case files, maintaining calendars and deadlines, and helping prepare attorneys for hearings, settlement conferences, and trials. The Law Clerk will also communicate with attorneys and staff regarding case updates, may interact with clients in a professional and empathetic manner, and will use legal software and office technology to support efficient case management.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in family law or general law, with coursework or practical experience that supports effective case analysis and application of legal principles.
- Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and declarations, and careful review of forms and court filings.
- Excellent research skills, including ability to use legal research tools, analyze statutes and case law, and present findings in a clear, concise format.
- Strong writing and communication abilities, with capacity to produce well-structured legal documents and communicate clearly and professionally with attorneys, staff, and clients.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with legal practice software, document management systems, and standard office technology.
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and respect for client confidentiality, with a compassionate approach to families in crisis.
- Enrollment in or completion of a law degree (JD) or paralegal program, or equivalent legal training; prior family law experience or internship is preferred.
