About the opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Employment Law Counsel to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of employment law within Latam region, as well as experience dealing with international labor regulations. This role will involve advising on a broad range of employment matters, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, and supporting our HR and management teams in making informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory: Provide expert advice on employment law issues, including hiring practices, employment contracts, terminations, benefits, workplace policies, and employee relations.

Compliance Management: Ensure the company’s compliance with local, regional, and international employment laws and regulations.

Contract Drafting and Review: Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, consultancy contracts, and other related legal documents.

Dispute Resolution: Manage employment disputes and litigation, coordinating with external counsel as necessary.

Policy Development: Develop and update internal policies and procedures to reflect current legal requirements and best practices.

Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to HR and management teams on employment law matters and legal compliance.

Regulatory Monitoring: Stay abreast of changes in employment legislation and advise on potential impacts to the company.

Cross-Border Employment Issues: Handle cross-border employment matters, including expatriate arrangements and global mobility programs.

Worker Classification: Advise on the classification of workers, such as employees vs. independent contractors, especially in the context of the gig economy.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including HR, compliance, and operations, to support business objectives.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from a reputable institution.

Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience specializing in employment law, preferably (but not compulsory) within the IT or transportation industry.

Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of Mexican employment laws, preferably with experience in international employment matters.

Language Proficiency: Excellent command of English
