Overview
We are looking for a mid-level associate to join our Labor and Employment Practice Group in Los Angeles. The candidate must be licensed to practice law in California. The ideal candidate has 4-8 years of solid experience litigating, including employment cases. Some employment advisory experience (e.g., drafting handbooks and employment-related agreements) is desirable but not required. Candidates must have strong writing and time management skills.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with clients to provide broad, protective counsel that minimizes risk exposure.
- Develop and implement risk-management solutions to help clients focus on their business while we manage employment-related matters.
- Advise and counsel business management on workplace compliance and respond promptly when conflicts arise.
- Defend employers from lawsuits and provide ongoing guidance related to employment issues.
Qualifications
- Active California state bar admission.
- 4–8 years of solid experience litigating, including employment cases.
- Experience with employment advisory work such as drafting handbooks and employment-related agreements is a plus but not required.
- Strong writing and time management skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation:
The reasonably expected pay scale for this position is $160,000 to $230,000 per year. This is an employer estimate; actual salary will depend on years of practice, relevant experience, and performance. The position is eligible for annual performance bonuses based on productivity.
Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, basic life insurance, enrollment in Buchalter’s 401(k) plan, unlimited PTO, and nine paid holidays per year.
