A law firm seeks a seasoned Labor and Employment Law Attorney to fill the Attorney Coach and Trainer role. This unique position offers an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver training programs that will elevate the capabilities of attorneys within the firm. The selected candidate will work closely with legal professionals, using a blend of in-person and virtual sessions to foster growth, support professional development, and ensure the consistent application of best practices.
The position is based in San Diego, CA.
Duties:
Design, implement, and lead a variety of attorney training programs, utilizing both virtual platforms (such as Microsoft Teams) and in-person sessions at local offices and regional conferences.
Provide tailored one-on-one coaching to attorneys, including regular office hours for ongoing development support.
Collaborate with the Learning and Professional Development Team to assess training needs and create relevant, impactful educational content.
Identify skill gaps and develop solutions to address them through targeted training initiatives.
Contribute to the rollout and adoption of new legal technologies and software, ensuring seamless integration across the firm.
Occasionally travel to deliver training programs and attend conferences.
Create and maintain training templates, standards, and resources that can be utilized firmwide.
Perform additional tasks related to attorney training and development as required.
Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years of experience as a practicing Labor and Employment Law Attorney.
Proven track record in creating, leading, and delivering training programs tailored to legal professionals.
Experience in providing personalized coaching and support to attorneys, including holding office hours.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build rapport and provide constructive feedback.
Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities and needs.
Team-oriented, with excellent collaboration skills across various departments.
Familiarity with digital tools and platforms, especially Microsoft Teams, and a willingness to quickly learn and use emerging technologies (e.g., legal software, AI tools).
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in California (other state licenses such as TX or FL are a plus).
Skills:
Deep knowledge and practical experience in labor and employment law.
Expertise in leading and coaching individuals in a legal environment.
Experience with Class Action and PAGA cases is highly desirable.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with online training tools.
Creative approach to training, with a service-oriented mindset.
Familiarity with e-learning platforms and instructional design software is a plus.
