About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Legal Counsel (Europe) to support our growing commercial and product legal activities across Europe, with an initial focus on the Netherlands and the UK. You will report directly to the Head of Legal – Europe and be part of a broader global legal team primarily based in the United States, working in close collaboration on cross-border legal matters.

You will take ownership of day-to-day commercial legal matters for the Netherlands and UK business, working closely with sales and customer teams.

This is a hands-on role for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working closely with business teams. You will focus primarily on SaaS contracting, data protection, and legal support, while gradually expanding your scope to include additional European jurisdictions (such as France, Germany, and Austria) as well as U.S. legal work with support from the broader global legal team.

This role offers strong development opportunities, including exposure to AI-related topics, global contracting structures, and cross-border legal work.

What does a great Junior Legal Counsel do?

Commercial Contracting

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, with a strong focus on:
  • SaaS agreements (MSAs, Order Forms, T&Cs)
  • DPAs and data-related provisions
  • NDAs, vendor agreements, and partnership contracts
  • Support the business in customer negotiations, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives
  • Help standardize and improve contracting processes, templates, and playbooks

Data Protection & Technology Law

  • Advise on GDPR and data protection matters, including:
  • Data processing agreements
  • Customer and vendor data flows
  • Privacy-related contractual commitments
  • Support product and business teams on technology and AI-related legal questions (with guidance from senior team members)

Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted legal partner to sales, customer success, and operational teams
  • Provide pragmatic, business-oriented advice on day-to-day legal matters
  • Translate legal concepts into clear and actionable guidance

International & Cross-Team Support

  • Support legal matters across Europe, particularly in the Netherlands and the UK, and over time:
  • Assist with other European territories (especially France, Germany, Austria)
  • Assist with U.S. legal topics (with support of the rest of the global legal team)
  • Contribute to global legal projects and initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Product, Security, Compliance)

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of relevant legal experience (law firm or in-house)
  • Master’s degree in Law (Europe) required
  • Dutch law qualification strongly preferred
  • Additional LL.M. (Business Law, International Law, IT law) is a plus, particularly from UK or US institutions
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (both written and spoken)
  • French and/or German is a plus

Experience & Expertise

  • SaaS contracting experience
  • GDPR experience required
  • Familiarity with relevant European regulatory frameworks, including GDPR, EU AI Act, Data Act, DORA, and related legislation
  • Familiarity with guidance from European data protection authorities, in particular the Dutch AP and the UK ICO
  • Experience working in an international business environment
  • Exposure to technology, AI, and digital products
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Commercial / contract law
  • Data protection / privacy law
  • Technology law
  • International business law
