MSC is seeking a motivated Junior Legal Counsel to join its Corporate Legal Compliance Team. Based in Piraeus, Greece, the successful candidate will support a broad range of corporate compliance and business ethics initiatives across MSC’s global network, working with colleagues in Geneva and stakeholders worldwide.
Key responsibilities
- Support the implementation of MSC’s Compliance Program across the MSC Group.
- Deliver compliance training and awareness initiatives to MSC Group companies worldwide.
- Provide guidance on business ethics matters, including gifts, entertainment, and corporate hospitality.
- Conduct third-party due diligence and support integrity, sanctions, and compliance assessments.
- Review compliance-related contractual provisions and support discussions with third parties.
- Assist with the assessment of compliance requests and questionnaires from customers, vendors, and other third parties.
- Contribute to the development of compliance communications, reporting, and awareness activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on ethics and compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions.
Qualifications & competencies
- Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent). Postgraduate qualifications (LL.M., M.Sc. or equivalent) will be considered an advantage.
- 1–3 years of experience in a law firm and/or the legal or compliance department of a multinational organization, with exposure to corporate compliance matters, including anti-bribery, anti-corruption, sanctions compliance, and data protection.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French and/or Italian will be considered an asset.
- Basic understanding of shipping, logistics, and international trade, or a strong interest in developing expertise in these areas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior management, customers, suppliers, business partners, and large audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical business practices.
- Strong attention to detail and dedication to delivering high-quality and accurate work.
- Adaptable, proactive, and commercially minded, with sound judgment and a solution-oriented approach.
