Job Description

The Junior Legal Associate will play a key role in supporting the legal department in various legal and corporate governance matters. This role involves assisting in corporate compliance programs, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and managing company secretarial duties related to board and general meetings, statutory filings, and corporate governance.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Compliance :

Assist in the development and implementation of corporate compliance programs to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

Monitor changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and take appropriate action.

Document Drafting and Review :

Draft and review various legal and commercial documents, including contracts, agreements, policies, and memoranda.

Ensure all documents are accurate, compliant with legal standards, and aligned with the company’s objectives.

Company Secretarial Support :

Assist in managing company secretarial matters, including the preparation and coordination of board and general meetings.

Handle statutory filings and maintain corporate governance records.

Maintain and update relevant statutory books and registers.

Legal Research and Analysis :

Conduct legal research and analysis to support the legal team in making informed decisions.

Prepare legal summaries and reports on various legal topics and issues.

Administrative and Organizational Support :

Provide administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling meetings and managing correspondence.

Organize and prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines and support the team’s objectives.

Skills Required

Ability to take initiative and lead tasks independently.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.

Proficiency in drafting clear and concise legal documents.

Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.

0-1 years of experience in a legal role, preferably in corporate law or a related field.

Strong knowledge of corporate law, compliance, and governance practices.

Excellent drafting skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Proficiency in legal research tools and software.

Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
