Why does the job exist?

The Child Support Legal Assistant II will:
Serve as a Lead Worker assisting Legal Assistants, Management and Attorneys in processing cases.

How does it get done?

The Child Support Legal Assistant II is responsible for:
Complex child support establishment and enforcement cases;

Preparing the most complex financial case calculations;

Appearing with the Department Attorneys in court when needed.

Parties of child support cases;

Child Support Legal Assistant I;

Child Support Services Division (CSSD) Management;

Child Support Services Division (CSSD) Attorneys.

Child Support Services Division (CSSD) Attorneys.

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) years experience in legal research or legal document preparation, accounting, finance or social health, or human service program development or delivery and/or clerical experience in a Child Support Office. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Must possess or obtain Defensive Driving Certificate

Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions

Office setting, exposure to VDT, extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. May need to testify in court hearings.
