Butler Snow LLP is looking for a Legal Administrative Assistant with Litigation Experience to join our team in our Huntsville office.
This position works within a team environment to support attorneys with:
Coordination or management of contact information, phone calls, voicemail messages, conference calls, emails and tasks or similar communications
Coordination or management of calendars, including trial dates, hearing dates, depositions, discovery schedules, motion response deadlines and pertinent reminders
Assist in scheduling client meetings, depositions, hearings and handling logistical needs for same, including online calendaring with courts, booking of court reporters or other necessary staff; securing necessary travel accommodations; and handling reimbursements of travel expenses
Draft, revise and proofread legal documents and correspondence
Handle preparation of hearing, trial, and deposition notebooks and exhibits
Assist with electronic filing of pleadings, exhibits and other legal documents
Maintain legal and confidential files and dockets in strict confidence
Perform related or similar duties as required or assigned
PRACTICE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrates knowledge of lifecycle of a lawsuit and terminology
Exhibits a self-starter attitude; is well organized demonstrates an ability to multi-task and work for multiple attorneys
Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy of work product
Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); adapts and learns new software easily
Demonstrates ability to draft correspondence with proper grammar and spelling
Demonstrates ability to draft pleadings such as notices of deposition, notices of appearance, subpoenas, discovery, motions, and orders
Demonstrates ability to accurately file documents through the court’s ECF system
Demonstrates ability to maintain calendar of depositions and other court-imposed deadlines
Demonstrates ability to schedule depositions (contact parties and schedule court reporter)
Prepare (with Bates numbers) document productions
Demonstrates ability to properly cite legal authority
Demonstrates ability to request documents from a court
Demonstrates ability to anticipate attorneys’ needs and act accordingly
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups of legal and support staff on confidential and sensitive firm matters
Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and continuous learning environment
Superior technology skills – proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe; experience with iManage and Aderant a plus
Ability to prioritize, organize and manage workload and to take the initiative in handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done
Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others
Requires a high degree of professionalism and the ability to exercise good judgment
Maintain multiple calendars in Outlook with meeting dates and deadlines

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Usual work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5 p.m. (one-hour lunch). Overtime work may be required sometimes.
