Jr. Legal Assistant – Litigation

The Washington, DC office of a mid-size law firm is hiring a Junior Legal Assistant to support their litigation team. Nationally recognized for their litigation efforts in the energy, environment, and natural resources arenas, you will have the opportunity to work for talented team of attorneys who represent client interests before the US Supreme Court, US Court of Appeal, federal district courts, etc. The successful applicant will have a bachelor’s degree, prior law firm experience (ideally working for a litigation practice), and strong administrative skills. The firm offers a hybrid schedule after the successful completion of a 90-day probationary period and lots of opportunities for growth.

Primary job tasks will include:

Litigation and Case Management – Assisting with case and document management, maintaining case files, monitoring upcoming litigation deadlines, and tracking key litigation processes in Excel.

Administrative and Calendar Support – Managing calendars for attorneys, scheduling appointments, and setting up virtual meetings, conference calls, and hearings. Preparing for trial by arranging logistics for meetings, interviews, depositions,, including travel, accommodations, working space, supplies, meals, files, witness materials, and other support required by attorneys.

Legal Document Preparation -Proofreading, formatting, and finalizing legal communications and court filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.Checking for citations for accuracy and proper format in accordance with The Bluebook citation style, and preparing organized binders and document sets for use in meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials.

Investigations, Discovery and Trial Preparation – Provide on-site support to legal teams during hearings, depositions, and trials, including travel as needed and visit courtrooms or other venues in advance to ensure required technology, equipment, and workspace are available and functional.
