This position is located in the Risk Assessment and Future Planning Division within the District of Columbia Office of the Inspector General (OIG), an organization that conducts audits, inspections, and investigations of government programs and operations. The OIG’s mission is to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness, and to detect and deter fraud, waste, and abuse in government programs and operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
The incumbent serves as an Investigative Analyst for the Data Analysis Unit and is responsible for independently conducting and coordinating complex analysis and projects in support of a wide variety of investigations, audits and evaluations. The incumbent is also responsible for conducting and participating in the analysis of programs that may be susceptible to waste, fraud or abuse as well as assisting with hotline intake, analysis, and correspondence.
Manipulates, manages, query, analyzes, and summarizes data from open source, law enforcement, District, and OIG data sources into cohesive reports in support of investigations, audits, and inspections of fraud, waste, and abuse. Data may come in the form of a database, financial records, expense reports, emails, and other formats.
Researches and develops increasingly complex and detailed statistical and analytical information and modeling on a variety of data including trends, projections, and supporting information necessary for effective presentations and analytical products.
Prepares supplemental visual aids, such as graphs, charts, etc., to support investigative reports and presentations. Organizes and delivers briefings to present findings and recommendations to managers. Documents data sources, maintains and organizes detailed records and files of assigned tasks and materials produced.
Coordinates and maintains relationships with Special Agents, Auditors, and other agency personnel to ensure analytical products support the overall OIG mission.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Education
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CS-09 grade level, or its non-District equivalent. Specialized experience for this position includes: applying investigative procedures and techniques in order to analyze, research and/or evaluate information; and assisting others with investigations.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification is desired.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related (Preferred). The position has been designated as security sensitive.
Tour of Duty: This position may require the IA to work extended work hours. This position may require the IA to perform on-call duties or perform emergency basis availability duties.
