Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group is seeking an Interim Custom sand Trade Compliance Counsel.
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Interim Compliance Counsel to support our client with customs and trade compliance.
Company: Publicly-traded transportation and logistics company
Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience with the relevant regulations and including OFAC, EAR, ITAR and US CPB and other relevant regulations for outbound and inbound shipping.
Location: Remote, open to all 50 US states.
Responsibilities Include:
Advise client’s internal screening teams responsible for compliance with OFAC sanctions, EAR, and ITAR regulations for outbound shipping.
Advise client’s internal customs team responsible for ensuring compliance with US CBP HTS (harmonized tariff schedule) and other regulations for inbound shipments.
Investigate flagged shipments, gather relevant facts, and make recommendations to internal stakeholders as needed.
Monitor quickly changing regulatory landscape impacting trade and customs, review current policies and workflows, and provide updates as needed.
Qualifications Include:
Minimum of 8 years of experience with OFAC, EAR, ITAR, and US CBP regulations.
Prior experience in an in-house legal department is preferred.
Strong investigative and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and make informed recommendations.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to hit the ground running in a fast-faced, busy in-house environment.
JD from accredited institution and active bar license in good standing in at least 1 US jurisdiction.
Pay: $115 to $125 per hour, depending on relevant experience, background, and qualifications.
