Role Description The Intellectual Property Specialist will work full time on-site in the Pune/Pimpri-Chinchwad Area, supporting clients and internal teams with end-to-end IP services. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting patent, trademark, and copyright searches; drafting and reviewing patent specifications and other IP documents; and assisting with filings and prosecution before relevant IP offices. The role involves analyzing inventions and creative works, assessing patentability and registrability, and preparing clear, accurate documentation aligned with legal and technical standards. The specialist will collaborate with academic institutions, startups, and industry partners to develop IP strategies, provide IP awareness support, and maintain organized records and tracking for client portfolios.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of intellectual property laws, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs, with practical exposure to filing and prosecution processes.
- Ability to analyze technical and scientific information, assess patentability and novelty, and draft precise patent specifications and other IP documents.
- Experience with prior art searches, IP database tools, and basic legal research related to intellectual property.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex IP concepts clearly to non-specialist stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented approach, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and client requirements simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in law, science, engineering, or a related field; specialized training or certification in intellectual property is an advantage.
- Comfort working on-site in the Pune/Pimpri-Chinchwad Area and collaborating with academic institutions, startups, and industry clients.
- Prior experience in an IP firm, in-house IP department, or research organization is preferred but not mandatory for highly motivated candidates.
