We’re Hiring: Family and Juvenile Court Improvement Program (FJCIP) Coordinator

Success as an FJCIP Coordinator comes from combining technical expertise, collaborative leadership, strategic mindset and a deep commitment to equitable outcomes for children and families. Here’s what it takes to thrive:
Understand the Landscape: A strong grasp of Washington State laws, court rules, family/dependency court procedures and knowledge of social service trends will help you navigate the system with credibility and identify relevant best practices.
Data Analysis and Project Management: You’ll need strong problem-solving and facilitation skills to unite diverse partners and guide complex discussions and decisions. You’ll need the skills to gather and analyze data to improve the court experience for families, turning complex information into clear, actionable insights. Proficiency in databases, Excel, and Office tools is essential for informing decisions at all levels.
Organized, Proactive and Connected: You’ll need to manage your workload independently while collaborating with court partners. Strong organization and communication skills are key to tracking progress and engaging partners effectively. Your success will depend on your capacity to foster relationships, have cultural humility, and your mediation abilities with families, professionals, and community partners.
Core daily responsibilities:
Your primary responsibility will be a catalyst for improving dependency court operations and case outcomes for children and families involved in child welfare, and includes the following duties:
Develop relationships, work collaboratively, convene and facilitate meetings with court, child welfare, and community partners to identify challenges and co-create solutions that improve court operations, system changes and family outcomes.
Maintain strong, reciprocal relationships with court and Tribal partners.
Collect, assemble, analyze, and share court data to improve policy and practice. Coordinate with the clerk’s office on case linking and coding for data needs.
Assess the needs of families, caregivers and court partners. Help development and implement of programs that make courts more effective, efficient, and accessible to families.
Foster a learning environment for court staff, system partners and community members. Participate in statewide learning communities and coordinate professional development for judicial officers and court partners.
Address disparities affecting BIPOC and LGBTQ+ families and youth. Promote inclusive, culturally responsive practices and ensure that community resources are understood by and easily assessable to court participants, the community and judicial officers.
Oversee the early parentage program, therapeutic courts, reunification day, annual symposium, specialized dockets and other court improvement projects.
Produce reports for the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) and Pierce County Juvenile Court, including but not limited to spending and local improvement plan, semi-annual reports, and the expenditure report.
Participate in continuing education programs, sponsored by AOC, focused on subjects relating to families and youth in the child welfare system, and the legal and court rule requirements of family and juvenile court.
Stay updated on trends mental health, substance use disorders, poverty, racism, and bias. Participate in the Peacemaking Circle process.

Qualifications
Bachelor degree in court administration, criminology, criminal justice, pre-law, business administration or a related field plus two years of experience in an administrative position requiring systems analysis and/or court operations. Additional education or experience may substitute equally for the position requirements. Positions in specific court divisions may require program-related experience, education and/or training.
Special Requirements:
A valid Washington State driver’s license is required.
Ability to successfully complete a Pierce County background investigation and polygraph exam is required prior to employment.
