About the Opportunity
A premier AmLaw firm is seeking a talented Associate to join its elite Intellectual Property team in Washington, DC. This role offers direct involvement in high-stakes patent portfolio strategy, clearance, and client counseling for dynamic, global organizations.
In this position, you will work closely with market-leading innovators, oversee technical teams, and actively participate in strategic client meetings.
Key Responsibilities

Draft and manage domestic and international patent applications across key chemical and life sciences sectors.

Perform freedom-to-operate (FTO) evaluations, due diligence investigations, and patentability analyses.

Provide day-to-day guidance and technical supervision to technical specialists and junior agents.

Assist in managing extensive corporate patent portfolios and present findings during client strategy sessions.
Qualifications

Experience: 2 years of patent prosecution and portfolio management experience. Prior work as a patent agent or technical specialist will be considered toward total experience. -
Education: Strong academic background in organic chemistry, small molecules, or a related discipline required. An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) is highly preferred. -
Bar Admissions: Registered to practice before the USPTO and admitted to at least one state bar.
