JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRO BONO & CORPORATE ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR
THE ORGANIZATION:
Started in 2012, Volare (formerly Network for Victim Recovery of DC) creates equitable healing and dignified experiences for survivors of crime. We provide free, trauma-informed advocacy, therapeutic, and legal services in conjunction with strategic litigation, policy advocacy, and education to transform existing responses to harm.
THE POSITION:
Volare seeks a full-time Pro Bono Coordinator to support our efforts to manage and cultivate our relationships with pro bono partners and corporate donors. This includes coordination of our Pro Bono Program, corporate donor cultivation strategy, and corporate volunteer opportunities. This individual should be resourceful, highly organized, a team player, a strong public speaker, a critical and analytical thinker, self-reflective and self-aware, and open to growth and learning.
This position reports to Volare’s Head of Engagement and will work collaboratively with the Engagement Team and across Volare’s domains (e.g. with Directors of Services).
This position does not require handling legal cases.
BENEFITS PACKAGE:
This is a full-time (35 hours per week), FLSA exempt, at-will position with an annual compensation of $65,000-70,000. This position is anticipated to begin on July 1, 2025.
POSITION PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for coordinating the organization’s pro bono and corporate donor development.
Specific responsibilities:
● Pro Bono Coordination:
Developing familiarity with Volare’s services;
Serving as point-of-contact for Volare’s pro bono research initiatives and any external or out-sourced legal support to advance complicated systemic barriers affecting Volare clients;
Working closely with Volare’s leadership in developing and tracking the progress of the pro bono program goals and creating monthly and annual pro bono reports;
Interacting with other staff to develop and implement pro bono projects;
Conducting outreach to new and existing legal providers, bar associations, and nonprofits in the community;
Collaborating with others in the planning and implementation of pro bono trainings;
Attending pro bono events held by Volare, local law firms and local partners;
Conducting pro bono trainings;
Developing training materials and coordinating training opportunities for Volare attorneys and pro bono attorneys;
Support the planning and execution of Volare Pro Bono events;
Identifying or issue-spotting legal or advocacy service needs in collaboration with the Services Program; and
Performing administrative duties related to pro bono.
● Corporate Engagement:
Support the creation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed;
Leading the planning and execution of Volare’s fundraising events and giving campaigns related to corporate giving and supporting other efforts;
Support the coordination of the production and mailings of year-end appeal letters;
Support the cultivation, development, and maintenance of ongoing relationships with major donors, corporations, and unrestricted foundations;
Support the development of resources and training related to fundraising and communications for Volare’s Board;
Manage and expand Volare’s Volunteer Program, with focus on corporate entities, including planning and overseeing volunteer events and corporate services days.
● Perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Juris Doctorate OR significant experience working in a law firm or legal provider setting preferred;
● Demonstrated knowledge and/or commitment to supporting survivors of victims of crime;
● Excellent organizational and project management skills, strong attention to detail.
● Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
● Strong writing and verbal communication skills, including legal writing and professional correspondence.
● Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
● Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from other disciplines; and
● Familiarity and orientation towards technology systems, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, etc.; and
● A reputation for integrity, dependability, and professionalism.

Compliance with partner/affiliate policy may be required to fulfill core duties detailed in your job description. Such partners/affiliates may include but are not limited to District and Federal Court systems, MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Metropolitan Police Department, DCFNE and the like. Such directives may include but are not limited to use of personal protective equipment, health testing such as Tuberculosis screening, flu and COVID vaccine requirements, and other directives as determined by Volare’s Executive Director when necessary to keep staff, clients, and partners safe and healthy.
It is anticipated that this position will require a hybrid of in person work at the Volare office, in court, at the hospital, on-scene, at outreach events, staff meetings, trainings, fundraising events, partnership meetings, or other locations and telework.
Additionally, this position requires residency within the DC region as defined by the ability to consistently respond in person as part of the core job function of this role.
